Sophia Shaw's crying can still be still be heard in the vicinity of the original Shaw house (destroyed in the War of 1812).

Sophia was the fiancee of General Isaac Brock who was killed at Queenston Heights during the war. His death greatly affected her and left her something of a widow if not by law.

Her sobs are still reported to this day.
