The largest private home in Stratford (and an active bed and breakfast) is home to something paranormal... possibly.

Woods Villa built by magistrate James Peter Woods is a well preserved and wonderfully hospitable place that the owners purchased even after hearing about "tales" of the supernatural from people local to the wonderful spot.

Interviewed by author John Robert Colombo, Ken Vinen, owner of the B&B said...

I had heard the stories about it being haunted, and stories of experiences involving the previous owners. I have lived in this house for nearly ten years now, and I have experienced 'things' that can't be explained away.

Unfortunately, this is the only information we have on the site right now but we'd love to know more. If you can fill in the blanks or possibly experienced the "benevolent" ghost of Woods Villa, we'd love to know more. Apparently, the ghost is "very nice and friendly" according to one of our witnesses who submitted a brief write up a while back but again, not much more information.

Update December 2008

Since the time this entry was first published over 10 years ago Woods Villa has been sold, (2004) and the new owners have renamed it Stewart House Inn. It is still operating as a first class B&B, and we have received no newer reports from this location. Thanks to a reader for alerting us to this change.
