We received the following report in May 2010. The events described occurred over a period years.

"My parents live in a 40 year-old house in a subdivision of Thornhill, Ontario. We moved into the house when it was newly built so the house itself does not have a history. During the first years of residing there my mother and sister often reported they felt they were being watched when they were in the basement. When they turned around there would be no one there.

My grandmother passed away during the 5th year of residing in the house. My family was sitting in the kitchen the night after her passing. My mother stated that she saw a man dressed in a long black cloak wearing a large black brimmed hat standing in the corner of the kitchen. She could not see his face because the large brim was covering it. We had a Medium living several doors down from us at the time who told my mother that guides and spirits would visit her regularly. When my mother saw this man in the corner she said she thought to herself “you don’t belong here…you have the wrong house” believing that he meant to be at the Medium’s house. My mother said he then instantly disappeared and she never saw him again.

During the same year of my grandmother’s passing a kitten of mine got out of the house without us noticing, climbed up into the engine of my father’s car and was killed instantly when my father started the car not knowing the kitten was there. I was very distraught over the kitten’s death feeling responsible for not keeping a closer eye on her. Several nights later after turning out the lights I felt something walking up my legs in the dark just as the kitten would occasionally do at night. I only felt this the one time until years later.

In 1999 I was living in London Ontario and attending a training program in Toronto. I stayed at my parents home in Thornhill during the week returning home to London on the weekends. Several times late at night while I was waiting to fall asleep I would be disturbed by the sound of someone pacing the floor outside the bedroom doors and jingling what sounded to be like change in a pocket. I got the distinct impression that whoever was doing the pacing was a man walking back and forth jingling change in his pocket while he paced. When he reached my door he would stop for a few seconds and then continue pacing. It was only my parents, who had gone to bed hours earlier, and myself residing in the house at the time. In the morning I asked my parents if either of them had heard anything strange or if either had been pacing the hallway during the night. Both stated that they had not.

Several years earlier my younger sister stayed with my parents for several weeks while she was house hunting in Toronto. She stated that one night she woke up and in the light of the moonlight she saw a rather chubby faced middle-aged man standing by the chair in the corner of the room. She said she just stared at him in shock thinking there was a man in her room and that when he realized she was awake he disappeared. She only saw him the one time. I wonder if this was the same man that I had heard pacing?"

The witness has let us know that "there has not been any unusual activity in the house for the past 2 years," and that other than the sense of being watched and seeing the man in the cloak and hat, which happened many years ago, (the) parents never experienced anything out of the ordinary."

"Most of the activity occurred when my sister or myself was present. The last experience I had in the house was 2 years ago when I experienced the "cat" walking up my legs and bed. I experienced this numerous times over the several years I lived there. I moved out 2 years ago so I don't know if the phantom "cat" is still there.

I believe that the "cat" may be one of the cats that lived and died in the house and buried in the backyard under a tree.  It became quite a pet cemetery back there. I always thought that because the house was new when we moved in that the man who has been seen, heard and sensed is somehow connected to the land. I remember hearing that there were farms and cotton factories in the area many years before the newer houses were built."
