This one is for all the folks "dying" (sorry for the pun,) to hear about "haunted cemeteries".

The Wesleyan Methodist Pioneer Cemetery of Lloydtown has been around since 1834 when it was donated by Jesse Lloyd, a leader in the Rebellions of 1837, and is thankfully, a "Millennium Program" and being restored, and is home to more than just the historic and old headstones BUT has a reported ghost to call it's own.

Jesse's daughter, Hannah Stodgill died at the age of seventeen in 1834 during a particularly brutal childbirth through which her daughter, Phebe, lived.

Hannah is said to now wander the cemetery dressed in a long black cloak looking down on the headstones to try and find the child she never knew.

This is right out of John Robert Colombo's Mysteries of Ontario and added here to let people know that although haunted cemeteries are uncommon, they do happen.

Have you seen Hannah or know of another story about this cemetery or another? Do you have a story or report from King City of your own? Please e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know.
