The following report was sent into us by a reader of the site in January 2008. While the story is rather weak I thought to include it. This particular library has been the focus of neighborhood gossip, and ghostly rumours and therefore there may just be something to this.

My wife reminded me the other day about something from a few years ago. When my son was younger, between 3-6 years old, my wife had brought him to the High Park Library to hear an author do a reading, I think it may have been Bob Munsch. He had some sort of encounter with an old lady that literally scared the crap out of him. Since he was young he really could not articulate what exactly he saw, and since the memory of children are sometimes unreliable later on, the only thing we could get from him was an old lady chased him from the children's area, snarling at him. When I heard this I remember going down, with my wife, to look for this person to "investigate" (or something like that!), only to find that at that time no elderly person was there. I really don't know if this was a ghost, or just a crazy woman from the neighborhood. This was in the early 90's. I was wondering, are there any other reports from the High Park Library?

Our thanks to the witness for this report.

The children's area of this library is on the first floor. It is a lovely older building and is set in a colourful area of Toronto. We have not received any reports other than the one above, however we have been questioned about it fairly often.
