The following report is being looked into by our researchers in the area. The witness is uncertain if this indeed maybe a ghost or perhaps an over tired mind. Perhaps you might have further information or know the identity of this "phantom" jogger:

"I work at a large warehouse complex located on Church Street South, just west of the Ajax/Pickering boundary. Several times, whilst walking home from work I have encountered what could possibly be a ghostly phenomenon along the stretch of Church Street between Bayley Road and Highway 2. Basically, while walking on the left hand side (to stay out of the way of oncoming traffic) I've noticed in the immediate distance what appears to be a man walking or possibly jogging in the same direction OR opposite direction of my travel. From my vantage I can usually make out a shady silhouette of a person.and not much else, but the shape does appear to get closer or farther away at times. Once I was so totally sure someone was jogging towards me I moved over closer to the side of the road to let him pass, only to have the shape gradually dissipate as it gets closer. I'm a bit sceptical about the experiences and could easily chalk them up to a long day at work followed by a dark walk home, but figured I might as well report it just in case."

Our thanks to the witness for this report.

Update: January 2008

The following was sent in by one of our readers:

"By chance I stumbled on your site and was amazed to see the phantom jogger in Ajax story. After leaving Annandale golf course late one night after a charity event, I do not drink; a jogger appeared out of no where in front of my car. I swerved to avoid the jogger. When I looked in my rear view mirror no one was there. I chalked it up to having a late night, but maybe there was something more to it."

Our thanks to the witness.

Update August 2008

One of our reader's writes:

"I lived in Ajax for 3 years right off Church between Bayly and Highway 2 in Ajax (the plaza with the "Honest Crook" convenience store) . I have walked up and down Church St more times than I can count, late at night, mid-day... and never, ever saw anything. Not that I'm saying it's not true, just that in the time I lived there I never saw anything."

Update March 2010

"Driving home from work one night.  I was alone in the car , I crossed Highway 2, as I was driving under the bridge.  I saw a faint figure in the distance on the right side of the road.  As I drove closer, he seemed to get a lil brighter.  As soon as I got right on top of him, nothing was there.  This was just as I was within 100ft of Bayly.   Let’s just say I went a little quicker home that day then I normally would."

Our thanks to the witness for sharing this experience with us.
