Since our inception, the e-mail has been pouring in. Here is another story sent in by a member. If you can elaborate or add to this story, please This email address is being protected from spambots. The story originates from Brampton and involves the old jail there, where at a certain time each year a spectre of a woman with a babe in arms walks around the yard in front of the window of what was, at the time, her husband's cell (in the late 1800s I believe). The story goes that the husband had never met his child so his wife travelled for miles to arrive at the jail only to be denied the right to visit her husband. Someone did, however, indicate to her which cell window was his, so she stood in the yard with the child and watched the window. The husband was executed shortly after this event. In addition to this a few years ago part of the property was excavated to make a parking lot and they found (human?) bones.

Updated November 2013:  A reader writes in........
"I was working in the old Brampton jail, the guys had just gone to pick up lunch, i was in the basement of the jail,I heard walking up on the first floor.no one was allowed in without clearance or without safety equipment as the jail was under renovations.I went to the first floor calling out to anyone they needed a hardhat and clearance, they kept walking.i heard them going up the back stairs,I called again, no response, they kept walking, I followed the foot steps up to the third floor, which was the guards quarters.there was no one there. And yes there were I believe three graves dug up and reburied at Meadowvale cemetery, the coroners office kept us out of the area, and we also found the gallows at the back right of the prison, old photos, coins and files in the walls

The old Brampton jail is now an archive, attached to the Brampton museum. I have phoned and asked them if they have had any experiences, and they have said no."
