We received the following account of a haunting in Sunderland in October 2009....

"I'm sorry if my stories trail, but I'm gonna briefly explain my three definitive stories from my old residence in a house in Sunderland Ontario.

Prelude: The "elder" ghost- for there were two (or more) in our home (see below) whether he or she, was very determined that the children (teens) of the household feel it's presence. So, many times it would turn off the television in our bedrooms, or turn off the radio if it thought we were up to late. It was like having another parent in a weird omnipotent way.

One of the three big occurrences happened when I was all by myself. Imagine a house with a direct line from the kitchen, to laundry room, to bathroom. And I'm on the toilet, with the door open, the house to myself and most of the lights off in the house. And as I sat I heard hard footsteps coming towards the bathroom from the kitchen. They started where there used to be a door in the outside wall of the kitchen, then stopped right at the bathroom door. If I wasn't on the toilet I would have s**t myself. :)

Another time my step sister and I were in her room upstairs- it was getting late, but we were still watching tv (which had been turned off by our ghost friend a couple of times by then) Her door into the bedroom was on a ledge, a step up, from the rest of the room; which she usually had open slightly and had a little box floor heater on the ledge. When, all of a sudden, SLAM- the door is shut and the heater is perfectly placed on the floor below the ledge. If someone had just slammed the door, the heater would have fallen over and shut off.

Next we heard this banging sound on the door, I described it like a billiard ball being thrown at it. This repeated about 6 or more times, and everyone heard it in the house- everyone thought that it was somebody else making the noise. My brother came in the bedroom after the 4th time and asked us to stop the racket- and we had thought that my brother had been doing it.

My brother and my step sister said they could see a little light floating around the room- I didn't but I had a funny feeling that something was in the room, then I had an overwhelming sense of calm and fatigue- soon I was asleep, I'm guessing, 'cause I can't remember anything else.

The last definitive occurrence was when my brother and I were watching TV at about 1am, in the living room downstairs. He had gotten up for a drink when the TV shut off, I turned it back on. It turned off again, I turned it back on- I said to my brother what was happening- he didn't believe me when he was in the kitchen, but as he walked into the living room it turned off again- he turned it on. Then the ghost got smarter, instead of just the television it started to turn off the cable box as well. After the ghost turning these off and us turning it on for a bit, he gave up- sorta- he, the ghost (I've always felt it was a guy) turned down the volume. I then said that it wasn't very nice, and that this was our weekend.

I have asked a psychic friend about it and she said that there are at least two ghosts in the house; one of a little girl, the other an older figure (we have no idea if its a male or female). As for what the ghosts want...? No idea. They're friendly, caring ghosts, or at least the one that doesn't show it's face is. I've never seen the little girl but my step sister's always had experiences, where they actually got the see her. Other then the normal eerie feeling- thats as dangerous as they get. Although, they ARE everywhere in that house only a couple of rooms are ghost free."
