A well thought addition from Lynda Quirino...

In my research, I have met with many persons who claim that their poltergeist activity accelerated when their household was, indeed, in total "chaos" -- i.e., divorce in progress, raging teenage hormones, disorder in the physical sense, or a sense of desperation on the part of any one of the members (or all!) in a household.

They claim that wandering, earthbound spirits actually thrive in any kind of chaotic atmosphere, especially if they are mischevious, "lower consciousness" life forms.

In speaking with several Feng Shui experts who have (they claim) successfully cleared out unwanted "visitors", one of the key elements in so doing was to "get clean". Getting physically clean (scrubbing, etc.) and emotionally clean (spiritually balanced and making balanced life decisions) was the key to clearing the space. If we're talking about energy here, then both of these things ring true.

I'm reminded of a Wiccan tradition I read about in which members of a newly acquired home were required to literally "sweep out" bad energy, physically, with a broom. Not a bad idea....
