Fulford Mansion - Brockville

Built in 1899-1900, this true Edwardian home was the home of George Taylor Fulford, a member if the senate and the manufacturer of "Dr. William's Pink Pills for Pale People", a 'cure all' medicine which made Fulford a small fortune.

True to the times, Mary, Fulford's wife, was a spiritualist and held seances in the home that even attracted the attention of William Lyon Mackenzie King who, as we now know, was a serious believer in the paranormal and was always trying to contact his deceased mother through seances and other paranormal means. Mary Fulford enlisted the help of a Detroit medium but whether or not they were successful is unknown.

It's Mary who is said to be haunting this mansion now run by our friends at the Ontario Heritage Foundation. Mary, in life, was said to be terrified of thunderstorms and it has been reported that during storms, there is heard banging and pounding on the main entrance doorway to be let in out of the rain. Is this Mary Fulford trying to escape her dreaded storm?
