Jocko River, Temiscaming

Added by Sue Darroch

Jocko River is located near the Town of Temiscaming and is part of the Ottawa River waterway. It is a picturesque site that certainly during the daylight would not lend itself well to a ghost story. Yet a legend is attached to the area, and over the years reports of the spectre of a long dead lumber jack have been documented.

The lumberjack, a fellow by the name of Toussant drowned in the waters of Jocko Creek. It was rumoured that he had been a blaphemer and that his untimely demise was retribution for his wicked ways. To this day there are those whom believe that his soul has been cursed to haunt this pretty little creek for all time.

If you have encountered the ghost of the lumberjack or can add information to this story we would appreciate hearing from you. Please e-mail our lead investigator, sue@ontarioghosts.org
