Bishop Fuller House - Thorold

Lavender is a popular scent for ghosts and the entity at the Bishop Fuller House seems to be no exception.

As stated in John Robert Colombo's book, Mysteries of Ontario and also submitted to us by one reader, a forlorn looking woman in "pioneer" dress (probably Regency) is occasionally seen but when she is approached, she vanishes and leaves the smell of lavender.

This smacks of the investigation way up north at The Baptiste Lake Inn near Bancroft (as far as the flowery smell).

UPDATE (Nov 2002) An interested reader (Tom) sent us the following information and photos...

This house no longer exists but there is a memorial at Lakeview cemetery in Thorold Ont. The plaque mentions it was on the north-east corner of Thoroldstone Rd. and Davis St.

Thoroldstone Rd. was realigned in the early '70s to meet the Thorold tunnel under the Welland Canal.

If you have a map of the area you will see this road plus Old Thoroldstone Rd. and Davis St. crosses both so I don't know which Thorold Rd. it was on I would assume the old one. I read somewhere General Brock was his Godfather hence the Brock in his name.
