John Robert Colombo's Mysteries of Ontario
John Robert Colombo has been called Canada's Master Gatherer and Canada's Mr. Mystery and with good reason. Aside from being one of our associates and an enormous help to the GHRS (yes, this is a blatant attempt of internal self-promotion), he has been collecting Canadian facts and myths since 1967 (my birth year!).
His most recent offering is Mysteries of Ontario from Hounslow Press. At $24.95, it's the day traveler's dream! Listing counties, townships and cities throughout Ontario and the odd happenings within the area of you choice.
The book covers such diverse things as Sasquatch and lake monsters to alien abductions and crop circles (yes, they have happened in Ontario,) not to mention, ghosts.
The book is laid out in easy-to-plot-your-trip layout that you can flip through depending on your area of travel. From Actinolite to Zion Hill and all stops in between, pick your town, county or township and find out what paranormal event has happened in that area.
He has also taken the time to find the "haunted hay rides" and other like festivals that you can attend across Ontario.
This book is a perfect "paranormal" traveler's guide and is a great starting point for anyone wishing to explore the Mysteries of Ontario. My co-workers and even my family have already plowed through and dog-eared my copy! This is a testament to the appeal of this book.
