Over the holidays (2006) my husband and I went to his company's Christmas dinner at the David Duncan House at Don Mills and York Mills in Toronto's North York. About half way through dinner my husband excused himself to visit the men's room in the basement. He was gone for about 10 minutes. His remark when he returned was, "You'll never believe what just happened." This is what he told us.

When he got to the door of the men's room he tried the door handle, but the door wouldn't open. He tried turning it both left and right and pushing against the door. All the time that he was attempting to enter the room he could hear an infant crying. He assumed that someone was changing the infant in the men's room and had locked the door. He waited a few moments then knocked at the ladies room door just to be sure that all was well. When there was no answer there he opened the door and checked, there was no one in the ladies. After about 3-4 minutes the crying stopped. He waited again and then tried the door. It opened easily. When he went in to the men's room he looked around but there was nobody there. There is only one door into the men's room and one into the lady's. If there had been anyone there changing an infant they would have needed to pass my husband at the door. Not only was there no one there but the usual background music that is played was not playing. One other thing was that he checked the doors and there are no locks on them that would allow them to be locked from inside. Was it a ghost, his imagination or something else?

We asked one of the waiters if there was a history of ghosts in the house but I don't think that his English was such that he understood what we were asking. He told us there was a brochure with the history at the door that told the story of the house. I've checked the brochure and their website, but there is no reference to a ghost at this place.
