Kitchener - Joseph Schneider House

The beautiful and historic Joseph Schneider house on Queen Street South in downtown Kitchener may have more than just it's Mennonite past to be reflected on in this lovely restored home.

Built in 1840 and acting as a museum today, it's also home to a "mysterious" women who appears in one of the mirror in the upstairs areas of the home.

She is seen snipping something with her scissors (John Robert Colombo calls her "The Phantom Seamstress" in the book, Mysteries of Ontario,) and has been seen to get up and move into the kitchen where, of course, she disappears.

There has been much discussion on ghosts and mirrors and not only in the above mentioned book but also the three "reports" we've received about the museum, the ghost is only seen in the mirror but also, we've received reports saying there is an uncanny sense of being "watched" or not being alone even though the authors of the e-mails we've received said that they had not seen another "living" entity anywhere near them.

Do you have your own experience to share about Joseph Schneider House or possibly another "haunt" in Kitchener? Please, e-mail us at ontario@ontarioghosts.org and let us know.
