Thorah Islands - 'Temporary Poltergeist'?
According to the SPR, poltergeist behaviour seems, statistically, to prefer to happen around young and pre-pubescent girls. This idea has been debated and the numbers given for this study long ago are not considered terribly reliable by most folks' standards but, none the less, people do seem to find that there is a case still to be made for this phenomena and this relationship.
Case in point being... 1891, Robert Dawson and his wife adopted a sickly little girl named Jennie Bramwell from the Belleville Orphanage. When the girl became very sickly, that seems to be when the real problems started.
During her recovery from the illness, she was noticed to go into trance like states during which, if she pointed at anything, it would catch fire... not unlike Stephen King's "Fire Starter" fictional novel. This apparently was so bad that she could not be left alone or unattended while ill.
Of note, according to John Robert Colombo, when her illness abated, so did her powers of starting fires.
We would love to have any information on this case or one's like it sent to us. If you have anything to add or tell us, please e-mail us at poltergeists@ontarioghosts.org and let us know. Your anonymity and security will, or course, be protected.
